Senior Property Accountant at OakPoint Real Estate (remote)
Company: OakPoint Real Estate
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time
Application deadline: April 7
Please note: the later you apply — the more intensive your selection process will be (for example, you will have less time for the test assignment, etc.).
About the Role
OakPoint Real Estate is seeking a Senior Property Accountant to support our growing portfolio of primarily office assets. This role will take ownership of the full-cycle accounting process for a portfolio of approximately 10 properties, working closely with property management and portfolio management teams to ensure accurate, timely financial reporting.
This role is open due to organic company growth, not backfill — and sits within a well-structured, high-functioning accounting setup. You’ll take ownership of the full-cycle accounting process for a portfolio of ~10 commercial office assets, working closely with internal property management and accounting teams.
The current accounting operations are stable and well-run, particularly for office assets. The next phase of growth is focused on:
scaling third-party accounting services
increasing oversight of multifamily assets
and integrating AI into accounting workflows
This role will play a key part in that evolution.
Key Responsibilities
Own the full-cycle property accounting for ~10 office assets
Lead the monthly close process (journal entries, accruals, reconciliations)
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations
Maintain accurate records in Yardi Voyager
Support cash management activities (including initiating wires; no approval authority)
Partner closely with AR/AP and other accountants to ensure accurate processing
Collaborate with property management teams on day-to-day operations
Support lender-related reporting and coordination (limited direct exposure)
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Identify opportunities to improve processes and introduce automation/AI
What this role is (and isn’t)
This role is:
A true ownership role over the close process for your portfolio
Highly execution + coordination focused across internal teams
Built within a structured and already well-functioning system
This role is not:
A client-facing / investor-facing role
A “fix everything from scratch” situation
A pure AP/AR or transactional accounting role
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
3+ years of property accounting experience (commercial real estate preferred)
Hands-on experience with Yardi Voyager strongly preferred
Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and real estate accounting
Strong Excel skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple properties
Ability to work independently in a remote, international setup
Strong English communication skills
Growth & Opportunity
Growth is tied to the company’s expansion in:
third-party accounting services
multifamily asset oversight
and AI-driven process improvements
While this is not a people management role today, strong performers can:
expand scope as the portfolio grows
take ownership of new processes and improvements
play a key role in modernizing the accounting function
Work Schedule
Must maintain at least 50% overlap with U.S. business hours (9 am - 5 pm Central Time)
What We Offer
Long-term, stable role with a growing real estate investment firm
Direct exposure to U.S.-based teams and operations
Opportunity to contribute to scaling and modernizing accounting processes
